Battlefield Vietnam
Battlefield Vietnam is the next computer game in Electronic Arts Battlefield franchise after Battlefield 1942. The game was developed by Digital Illusions CE and published by Electronic Arts on March 15, 2004 in North America and days later in other parts of the world. Battlefield Vietnam takes place during the Vietnam War. The game features a large variety of maps based on historical settings, such as the Cambodian Incursion, Ho Chi Minh Trail, Fall of Saigon, Ia Drang Valley and Operation Flaming Dart.
On March 15, 2005, EA re-released the game as Battlefield Vietnam: Redux, which includes the 1.01, 1.02, 1.1, and 1.2 patches, new vehicles, maps, and the World War II mod, based on the previous Battlefield 1942.
Gameplay
Battlefield Vietnam has the same mission by mission objectives of Battlefield 1942; there are two teams on either end of a map, each team has a set of points or "Tickets" that they start out with. The teams can increase their tickets by killing the other team and capturing flags "keypoints" on the battlefield. If a player is killed in the game he can "respawn" on one of the Flags that his team owns. The weapon system of Battlefield: Vietnam is also unique. All of the weapons are divided up into "Kits", the engineer's kit for example consists of a knife, a sidearm, a semi-automatic rifle, a Claymore landmine, and a mortar.The classes are the biggest outright change. For Conquest mode, there is only the option to play as Soldier, Scout, Heavy Gunner and Engineer, each with different superficial images. Each class comes equipped with a specific sidearm (usually a type of pistol) and provides players the option to choose between one of two primary weapons.
